The SAL2470Z is sharp and produce very creamy bokeh, seems especially on the first sample photo.The second sample reviewed the sharpness of the lens and details including contrast which it is able to capture.The flower's sample photos demonstrates the difference of F2.8 and F8 of the lens.The lens proves to be super silent during focusing.

The picture quality overall is good. The lens zooms in and out during focus, some may feel OK about it, others may dislike it. There is possibility for dust to go insidet he lens too as its not a weather sealed lens.
