With the announcement of Canon 40D and 1Ds Mark III , followed up by Nikon D300 and D3 , photographers are really having a tough time choosing their Christmas present this year. In Korea, Olympus revealed their latest mid-range dslr to a limited number of photojournalist yesterday. It is called name E-3, a replacement for E-1. It seems like the rumored P-1 never exist, or maybe still in “Research and Development”.

Details specification of E-3 was not revealed, visitors are not allowed to photograph using the displayed E-3. However, they were allowed to take photo of the camera body itself together with Olympus Zuiko 14-60 F2.8-4.0 lens. The lens is semi transparent in order to showcase the performance of its focusing motor.

You may like to refer to Olympus E-P1 in November 2007 for further technical specification as I believe that information is valid. The image is similar to the one showcases here in Korea. The only difference is that it was codename as Olympus E-P1 instead of Olympus E-3.

Watch out for amazon or other online retailer to have an pre-order option anytime now, just like what happened with Canon 40D and Canon 1Ds Mark III.

The sad thing with Olympus is that they are still producing mid range grade camera body though they have few of the world best lens like the Zuiko 35-100 F2 and Zuiko 90-250 F2.8.
