Think that the megapixel rush is getting out of control? Well get prepared for a whole lot more.

Sharp has launched a 1/4-inch-optical-sized CMOS camera module, the "LZ0P39DS," which has an output resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels (It is suppose to be 16000 x 12000) or 200 megapixel pixels and features automatic focus.

The module, which will be small enough to fit into a regular compact camera is also compliant with UXGA video at 15 fps.

The sample is priced at 5,000 yen. Volume production will be started in July and the company plans to produce 300,000 modules per month.
