The Japanese camera magazine CAPA tested their pre-production D3's writing speed with various CF cards.

They put one card in a slot, set it to FINE JPG, put it on rapid fire and counted how many photos it took before the camera gagged.

Sandisk Extreme 3 and Transcend 266x came in last with 35 pics
Lexar Pro 300x came in next with 50 pics,
Sandisk Extreme 4 next with 68 pics
Sandisk Extreme Ducati came in with 77 pics.

All 4 GB Compact Flash were used.With RAW the numbers would be smaller, no doubt. But I was surprised at the difference.
