(masterchong.com) Nikon D40, a budget dSLR that Nikon invented to rock the world of dSLR, for US$599 you can get a dSLR and 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 lens. A real bargain this Christmas! Nikon D40 press release is here.
The Nikon D40 which is a little bit smaller compared to D50 may not worth the bucks. There is no top LCD on it as what the D70s is equipped with. This may not be crucial as the new Canon 400D and the Olympus E-400 do not have it also, you will get used to it eventually, I believe. Apart from that if you are upgrading from film to digital, you may have some problem matchmaking your analogue lens with the Nikon D40. Only AF-S and ED-IF series lens will have autofocus (AF) function enabled when used with D40. Nikon has removed the mechanical AF assembly in order to cut some weight of the camera and also the cost, I believe. Current Related News
