According to DigitalReview.ca, Nikon Canada Inc. recently offered accredited professional sports photographers (attending the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball home games at the Rogers Stadium in Toronto), the opportunity to try out initial production samples of the new Nikon D3 12.1 MP FX Format digital SLR.

Danlo: “Of course I would be very happy if this was true, but I don´t believe it. If I put Nikons own D3 -samples beside the picture you posted, it seems more like your pics true Iso is like Iso 400 or 800. But, if it is true, my next camera (spring/summer 2008), without a doubt, Will be a Nikon ;)”

Henry Goh: “Many non-Nikon shooters are in disbelief that Nikon can come out with a camera that performs so well. I think even when the actual camera is available; many will continue to bury their heads in the sand. So be it. It is all technology so something like this is bound to happen when one invests enough money into R&D.”

P Thorsteins: "Very impressive. I like the results from the VR 500mm f/4 as well although I would need a cart to haul it around :-) I wonder if this means that we will also see significant improvements in the D300 in terms of noise reduction. I realize that the larger sensor advantage of the D3 is one of the reasons that it performs so well at high ISO. Hopefully Nikon has figured out a way to improve the high ISO capabilities of the DX format as well. If the D300 delivers I will be on the list for one and my D200 will be my back up. The D3 sure is tempting. "
