Photoshop Tutorial

Not long ago, I was trying to view the thumbnails of my Olympus' RAW files in Adobe Bridge. I have already copied the updated plug-in for Olympus E-500 dSLR into Adobe Photoshop CS2's folder, but was still not able to view thumbnails of my RAW files in Adobe Bridge. The plug-in can be downloaded at Adobe’s Digital camera raw file support site . Are you experiencing the same problem? Here is how to solve it :

The Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in became the latest must-have tool for professional photographers when it was released in February 2003. This powerful plug-in has been updated frequently to support more cameras and include more features. The current latest version is 3.6 which support the new Canon 400D, Nikon D80, Olympus E400 and a lot more.

Now I am able to open all the Olympus E-500 (*.ORF) RAW files in Adobe's ACR by double clicking it in Adobe Bridge. Photoshop CS2 does not recognize .ORF before I copy the downloaded plug-in into Adobe Photoshop CS2's folder.

Unfortunately, having to work without being able to look at the thumbnails of the images slowed my workflow tremendously as I need to open one image by one image using ACR.

To enable thumbnail viewing in Adobe Bridge, I pasted the same plug-in that I have downloaded to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS2 overwriting the existing file.

Now I am able to view all my thumbnails in Adobe Bridge and able to process my RAW files faster than before!

This method works for all the cameras that I have tested so far, one will only need to do some simple copy-pasting to get it work. Drop me a line or two if you have any doubts.
